The Moscow State Conservatory is one of the finest and most famous schools of music in the world. It was named after the famous composer Piotr Tchaikovsky, and frequently referred to as the Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Founded in 1866 by Nikolay Rubinstein, the Conservatory provides students with highly profession and artistic training by world famous professionals, composer, artists and scholars. Students receive individual instruction in their chosen instrument or voice as well as classroom based lectures in language, culture and history. The Conservatory has a goal of educating its students so that their true artistic personalities may emerge and they may become both real professionals and genuine agents of culture. Creative initiatives by students are supported and encouraged. The Moscow State Conservatory organizes several hundred concerts per year in its own concert halls as well as those in other Russian cities. This provides its students with many opportunities to actively participate in musical and cultural events..

Russia is a rapidly changing country with a unique mix of rich tradition and rapid transformation. As Russia redefines itself there is a new creative spirit apparent in the energy of the younger generation. This is the background for The Moscow State Conservatory. The school is composed of several lecture buildings and three concert halls, which together form a beautiful architectural complex. The conservatory itself consists of 7 departments: Piano, Orchestral Instruments, Vocal, Choral-Conducting, Composition, Musicology and the Study for Performance Practice.
