The Universidad Mayor has a Spanish Program for Foreign Students at this time. The level of Spanish-language proficiency of foreign exchange students in international exchange programs must be good enough for the students to successful both socially and academically in Chile.  At Universidad Mayor international students can take an intensive course of one-month Spanish classes (100 hours).

The intensive Spanish as a Second Language Program consists of a cultural and linguistic immersion course set within the Chilean context.  By way of systematic and practical classes students will acquire the tools to become proficient in both written and spoken Spanish.

Accommodation and Meals

Cost: CLP$300.000. (approximately $619 USD)
Includes: Individual room or shared room.
Three meals per day from Monday to Sunday (breakfast - lunch - dinner) / Wash of clothes and moderate use of telephone for local calls.
Support on the part of the family, location streets, university, foreign currency exchange, purchases.

Cost: CLP$280.000. (approximately $577 USD)
Includes: Individual room or shared room.
Breakfast and Dinner (Monday to Friday) - Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner (Weekend and Holidays) / Wash of clothes and moderate use of telephone for local calls.
Support on the part of the family, location streets, university, foreign currency exchange, purchases.

Plus $130 (USD) Housing coordinator Fee. Included: Pick up airport, transfer to family, Monitoring demurrage in family (if the student wishes to change family, is not pleased by new location and transfer of family)

 

We recommend students live with Chilean families during the one-month Spanish course in order to maximize their learning experience. Families are very well selected and live near the campus

UM has no system of housing.  When students apply, they will send you suggestions for accommodation

Estimated Program Costs
 

Selected students will participate on this program as an exchange. These students will pay MSU tuition and fees for semester credits and will not pay Universidad Mayor tuition and fees. Housing costs are included in this program. One meal per day is also included.
Additional costs may include transportation, meals, health insurance, visa fees, study abroad application fee, etc.
Students selected to participate in the three-week pre-session internship will receive a stipend by Universidad Mayor to cover airfare and housing during the internship.

Please complete the Montclair State University study abroad application process. In addition, please submit the Universidad Mayor application to the Study Abroad Office at Montclair State.
